The modern karate sport community in Russia gives a high priority to the initiatives geared to secure high quality training for the sport reserve. However, competitive accomplishments of national athletes are still restricted by the lack of necessary programmatic framework and training systems to ensure multisided competitive fitness of junior karatekas. It should be noted that modern competitive karate requires the mental aspects of the athletic fitness being ranked no less important than the physical and technical ones. This statement is supported by an analysis of the competitive accomplishments of the Nizhnevartovsk and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous (Yugra) Territory picked team. The poor volitional qualities demonstrated by the junior athletes in practical competitions need to be improved by individualized willpower improvement trajectories in the training system supported by a theoretical analysis of the notion of willpower as such.
Keywords: model, morale and willpower training, junior karatekas.
