Introduction. The stable decline in quality of life indicators among students of special medical groups (SMG) in Russian universities year after year causes concern and calls for finding solutions to this problem [2]. The process of physical education at the university, as demonstrated by many years of positive practice, can change the situation and improve the quality of life indicators of SMG students through the use of modern methods (including online technologies) [1].
Objective of the study: to study the effectiveness of the "Walking Man" online technology in the organization of independent physical education classes for students of a special medical group.
Methods and organization of the study. The scientific study involved 1st- to 3rd-year students (102 students) of the North-West Institute of Management, RANEPA. The SF-36 quality of life scale indicators of SMG students were assessed over the experimental period.
The "Walking Man" online technology in the organization of independent physical education classes for SMG students was implemented via a mobile application. The methodology for organizing the independent work of SMG students consisted of walking 7,500 to 10,000 steps daily. Naturally, the optimal amount was determined by the student's well-being and doctors' recommendations. During physical activity, step counting is carried out, which encourages students to engage in conscious activities and stimulates an increase in performance. In the VKontakte (VK) community chat "Physical Culture and Health," SMG students are accompanied and provided with information support by a physical education teacher.
Results of the study and their discussion. According to the results of the study, positive significant changes (p < 0.05) in the SF-36 quality of life scale indicators were revealed, as presented in the table.
The "Walking Man" online technology in the organization of independent physical education classes for SMG students solves several tasks at once: firstly, improving physical health indicators and reducing pain; secondly, improving psychological indicators that contribute to a positive emotional state and vitality; thirdly, the social aspect of health: as it turned out during the discussion of physical activity details, SMG students unite into subgroups to reach their step goals. They walk a lot, talk, and share important things.
Conclusion. The organization of independent work of SMG students should be carried out with the accompaniment and support of a physical education teacher. SMG students need to be explained the features of the physical activity methodology and ways of dosing physical load, as well as have their interest stimulated through personal example. Classes based on this online technology led to an improvement in the studied indicators (a significant change).
