Abstract

Objective of the study is the conduct of the diagnostics of the academic motivation of 1st-year students of the ‘Sport’ area of preparation of the Russian University of Sport ‘GTsOLIFK’ and the determination of the ways of the effective formation of the academic abilities of the learners. Methods and structure of the study. 102 respondents, studying in the ‘Sport’ area of preparation of various orientations at the Russian University of Sport ‘GTsOLIFK’, took part in the scientific work. Results and conclusions. As a result of the conducted psychological diagnostics of the academic motivation of the first-year students of the Russian University of Sport ‘GTsOLIFK’, it was revealed that the obtained values on the whole correspond to the profile of the distribution of the indicators of the types of motivation for learning of the students of other Russian universities. In particular, in the students of the sports university, as in the learners of other universities, the indicators of two types of internal motivation for learning predominate: cognitive motivation and the motivation of self-development; among the types of external motivation, the indicators of the motivation of self-respect dominate. The proposed approach to the activation of the cognitive activity of students stimulates the academic motivation of the first-year learners of the sports university and contributes to the progressive formation of professionally valuable academic abilities in the educational process of the university.
