Abstract

Objective of the study is to conduct a comparative analysis of the approaches presented in the scientific-methodological literature to the choice and substantiation of the number of experts and to determine the features of their application in research on physical culture and sport. Methods and structure of the study. An analysis of the information sources devoted to the topic of the study was conducted. Results and conclusions. The approaches to the choice and substantiation of the number of expert groups in research on physical culture and sport were examined. The calculation methods, approximate ranges and content-organisational criteria of the formation of the group were compared. It was shown that the sufficient number of experts is determined by the aim and character of the task, the variability of the assessments, the required accuracy, the competence of the participants and the number of repeated observations. The necessity of revealing in scientific publications not only the number of the expert group, but also the logic of its choice, was substantiated.
