Abstract

Objective of the study is to provide an experimental rationale for a programme for the development of coordination abilities in senior preschool children by means of universal fight and to verify its effectiveness experimentally. Methods and structure of the study. The programme was implemented at a kindergarten in Moscow with the participation of a senior group of children aged 5–6 years, who were divided into a control and an experimental group. The curriculum included the main sections of the programme, aimed at the formation and development of coordination abilities, the mastering of the elements of universal fight, and the development of the physical qualities of senior preschool children. The programme employed special exercises drawn from the means of universal fight, adapted to the age-specific characteristics of senior preschool children. The exercises were aimed at developing agility, movement accuracy, balance and the coordination of actions. Results and conclusions. The study revealed the effectiveness of applying the means of universal fight for the development of coordination abilities in senior preschool children. This result was made possible by the wide arsenal of motor actions that a child has to master in the course of universal fight sessions.
