Abstract
Objective of the study is the assessment of the dynamics of the development of the physical qualities of young cross-country skiers aged 9-11 at the initial preparation stage. Methods and structure of the study. 49 young athletes aged from 9 to 11, divided into three groups depending on the duration of their preparation and participating in comprehensive examinations as part of the team of the Moscow Academy of Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon on the basis of the FSC VNIIFK, took part in the scientific work. Results and conclusions. It was established that at the basis of the dynamics of the age-related changes of the 9-, 10- and 11-year-old athletes lies the heterochrony of the speed of the annual growth of body mass and of its individual segments forming the muscles of the shoulder girdle and the legs, differentiating the sequence of the first-priority development of the explosive strength and speed-strength endurance of the arms (already in the second year of preparation) and the subsequent development of the explosive strength of the legs (in the third year), which leads to a longer period of their development and readiness for realisation activity for participation in competitions.
