Abstract

Objective of the study is to reveal the state of student sport in the Russian Federation and the Sverdlovsk Oblast, to determine the main tendencies and prospects of development taking into account the tasks set in the programme documents. Methods and structure of the study. In the scientific work, the data of the summary reports of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation 'Information on physical culture and sport' for 2023-2025, the reports of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sport of the Sverdlovsk Region, as well as the materials of the Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030, were used. For the analysis, the age contingent of 18-29 years was singled out, which corresponds to the students mastering the programmes of the bachelor's, specialist's, master's and postgraduate levels. Results and conclusions. Positive tendencies of the growth of the number of those engaged in the region were revealed, as well as problematic aspects connected with the insufficient role of the educational organisations of higher education as platforms for engaging in sport. The sports infrastructure of the leading universities of the Sverdlovsk Oblast was analysed. Conclusions were drawn about the necessity of the further perfection of the material-technical base and the increase of the attractiveness of university sports facilities for student youth.
