Abstract
Objective of the study is the study of the indicators of bone tissue density in young men of different somatotypes and the identification of the risk factors of the development of osteopenia in connection with constitutional features. Methods and structure of the study. Anthropometric data (17 somatic dimensions) and indicators of bone tissue density (determination with the help of the ‘Sonost’ 3000 ultrasound densitometer) were used for 220 young men aged from 18 to 25, examined in Petrozavodsk in 2024-2025, including materials for two groups of athletes engaged in football (N=32) and volleyball (N=35) with more than seven years of experience in the indicated sports. The constitutional types were determined by the Heath–Carter scheme (the development of the endo-, meso- and ectomorphic components of the body composition) and by the Deryabin scheme (the typological characteristics of the development of micro-/macrosomia, narrow-/broad-build, musculature and fat deposition). Results and conclusions. Stable tendencies of the increase of the indicators of bone tissue density were revealed in somatotypes with a good development of the muscular component of the body build; in young men of the mesomorphic somatotype, the lowest degree of the risk of the development of osteopenia was noted in comparison with the ecto- and endomorphic variants of the body build. In the respondents with reduced indicators of bone tissue density, a decrease of the muscle mass and higher values of the fat component of the body build were revealed. In the examined group of football players, higher indicators of bone tissue density (within the normal values) were established in comparison with the volleyball players and the young men not engaged in sport.
