Introduction. The development of freestyle wrestling in the People's Republic of China in recent decades has been accompanied by the strengthening of the positions of Chinese athletes in international competitions, which allows us to speak about the effectiveness of the national training system. In this regard, it is relevant to analyze its features as applied to freestyle wrestling in the PRC.
Aim of the study: to determine the features of the national system of training athletes in freestyle wrestling in the People's Republic of China.
Methods and organization of the study. The scientific work used methods of analysis of scientific and scientific-methodological literature, as well as generalization and systematization. Their application made it possible to study and systematize information characterizing the national system of training athletes in freestyle wrestling in the PRC.
Results of the study and their discussion. The analysis and generalization of literary sources allow us to state that the national system of training athletes in freestyle wrestling in the PRC is a centrally managed and organizationally structured model aimed at training athletes to participate in international competitions [1]. Its functioning is ensured by the interaction of government bodies, specialized sports organizations, regional structures, educational institutions, and training centers. The key coordinating role in this system is played by the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Wrestling Association, and the Chinese Olympic Committee, which provide strategic, organizational, and resource support for the training of athletes of various levels.
A significant feature is also the pyramidal organization of athlete training, which is a multi-level system, or the golden pyramid of Chinese sports. Its base consists of sections and sports schools functioning within the general education system and ensuring mass involvement of children in sports. The middle level is formed by professional sports schools of provinces and large cities, where in-depth training of promising wrestlers is carried out. The upper level is represented by provincial and national teams, as well as specialized training centers, where highly qualified athletes are trained for the World Championships and the Olympic Games [2]. Such a structure ensures the consistency of selection, the continuity of training, and the promotion of the most promising athletes from the initial stage to the elite level.
Conclusions. Thus, the national system of training athletes in freestyle wrestling in the PRC is a consistently organized model based on centralized management and a multi-level training structure. The combination of these features ensures consistent selection of athletes, step-by-step sports improvement, and creates conditions for training athletes for successful performance at the largest international competitions.
