Abstract
Objective of the study is to theoretically substantiate the axiogenic potential of mass physical-culture and sports events as a factor of the formation of the civic-patriotic identity of students. Methods and structure of the study. The methodological basis was constituted by the axiological and activity-based approaches. A mass sporting event is considered as a pedagogically organised situation of collective emotional experiencing, in which abstract civic-patriotic meanings acquire for the personality the status of a subjective value. A three-phase mechanism of axiogenesis was revealed: emotional resonance, semantic crystallisation through symbolism and rituals, reflexive appropriation of the value. Results and conclusions. The physical-culture and sports space of the university possesses an axiogenic potential, most fully realised in mass physical-culture and sports events. A three-phase mechanism of the axiogenesis of the civic-patriotic identity was revealed: emotional resonance → semantic crystallisation → reflexive appropriation. This mechanism serves as the theoretical basis of the pedagogical design of upbringing events. Its realisation requires purposeful pedagogical instrumentation and opens up new directions of research in the theory and methodology of physical education.
