Abstract

Objective of the study is to analyse the dynamics of the inclusive culture in the university environment through the prism of the concept of extrabilities on the example of the cooperation of UrFU and the autonomous non-profit organisation ‘White Cane’ and to assess the effects of the interaction for students, participants with disabilities and the university. Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work rests on the concept of extrabilities (K.V. Barannikov, O.B. Kolpashchikov), the theory of inclusive culture, and the competence-based and project-based approaches. The empirical basis was constituted by the materials of the International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Extrabilities as a Phenomenon of Inclusive Culture’ (2018-2025), data on the project activity of UrFU students, and the results of international seminars. The methods of the qualitative analysis of documents, case study and participant observation were used. Results and conclusions. The conducted scientific work makes it possible to draw the following conclusions: the concept of extrabilities represents a multi-level theoretical framework, including the psychological (the mechanisms of the development of unique abilities), social (the change of the paradigm of perception), pedagogical (the design of inclusive interaction as a space of mutual enrichment) and philosophical (the affirmation of the value of human potential) levels. This concept makes it possible to rethink the traditional approaches to inclusion in the university environment. The experience of the interaction of UrFU and the ANO ‘White Cane’ demonstrates an effective model of the transition from a formal ‘accessible environment’ to a culture of mutual enrichment, where each participant becomes a source of valuable experience and a driver of changes. The presented experience can serve as a basis for the introduction of inclusive project modules into the curricula of other universities.
