Abstract

Objective of the study is to identify the influence of the means of badminton on the improvement of the indicators of physical fitness and the motivation for classes. Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work was conducted on the basis of the North-Western Institute of Management of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration during the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year. 40 female students of the 1st-2nd years aged 18-20 took part in the experiment; they were divided into two groups of 20 people: a control group (CG) and an experimental group (EG). The control group studied according to the standard programme of physical education (track and field athletics, fitness, sports games of choice: volleyball, basketball). The experimental group, instead of the traditional game sports, engaged in badminton twice a week (for 90 minutes) according to a specially developed programme. Results and conclusions. The developed experimental programme of badminton classes (twice a week for 90 minutes over the course of 4 months) made it possible to achieve a reliable improvement of all the studied indicators of the physical fitness of the female students of the experimental group (p<0.01-0.001). The most pronounced increase was recorded in static balance, 43.6%. The indicators of explosive strength improved by 11.0%, of coordination abilities by 9.0%, of general endurance by 13.2%. In the control group, which studied according to the traditional programme, no reliable changes were recorded in any of the indicators (p>0.05). Badminton classes exerted a positive influence on the motivational sphere of the female students. In the experimental group, the internal motivation for physical culture classes increased to a greater degree in the indicator ‘interest in the process of the classes’.
