Abstract

Objective of the study is the study of the psycho-emotional state, psychological and social resilience of female students engaged in pole sport, as well as the identification of the need for its mastering in girls engaged in other kinds of physical activity. Methods and structure of the study. On the basis of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, a sociological study (n=200) and a pedagogical experiment in a pole sport group (n=45) were conducted using the ‘WAM’ (well-being, activity, mood) method, the psychological hardiness questionnaire of S. Maddi and the social connectedness scale of Lee & Robbins. Each method was realised in accordance with the target tasks and a strict procedure of organisation. Results and conclusions. A high social demand for pole sport classes was revealed (81% of awareness, 75% of readiness to engage). An increase in the indicators of well-being (+0.3 points), activity (+0.3 points) and mood (+0.4 points) was established. The general index of psychological resilience increased by 15% (from 62.4 to 71.8 points; p<0.01), and in 68% of the female students social anxiety decreased. Pole sport is an effective means of improving the psycho-emotional state and increasing the social resilience of female students, and also represents a modern, popular kind of sporting activity of student youth, which substantiates its inclusion in the system of physical education of a university.
