Abstract
Objective of the study is to assess the prospects of the purposeful athletic preparation for the simultaneous no-step stroke as a key model of movement by the classical method. Methods and structure of the study. A theoretical analysis and generalisation of the data of domestic and foreign literature over the last 15 years was carried out. In the process of the ascertaining study, the indicators of heart rhythm, oxygen consumption and the strength abilities of functional muscle groups were determined, and a video analysis of technical actions was carried out. A Wingate test on a specialised ski ergometer, a test with a step-increasing load on a treadmill, and a modified Conconi test on skis were conducted. 12 cross-country skiers with the qualification of Candidate Master of Sports and Master of Sports of Russia took part in the study. Results and conclusions. The simultaneous no-step stroke (SNS), in sports literature and practice called double poling (DP), has over the last two decades undergone a fundamental transformation, from an auxiliary method of movement on flat sections to the main, and often the only, technical element used by elite cross-country skiers throughout the entire classical distance. This transformation became possible thanks to the synergy of three factors: the evolution of technique, changes in equipment and a deepened understanding of the bioenergetic mechanisms of work. We consider the prospects of using this technique as the main, and sometimes the only, method of movement. Thus, in the focus of our attention is the change of the strategy of the multi-year preparation of cross-country skiers.
