The management of speed-strength preparation in handball as a factor of the effective realisation of competitive activity

Abstract
Objective of the study is to increase the result-effectiveness of the game and competitive activity in a training group of female handball players aged 13-14 by means of developing an experimental programme of the use of speed-strength exercises taking into account the physiological mechanisms of adaptation. Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work was conducted on the basis of the Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University; the practical part of the study was conducted on the basis of the Kadyrbek Ospanov Children’s and Youth Sports School No. 1 of the city of Kostanay with the involvement of female handball players aged 13-14 in the groups of the second year of study of the training stage. With the help of a battery of tests, monitoring and analysis of the physical state of the female athletes was carried out; by means of pedagogical observation the effectiveness of the game and competitive activity was analysed; the results were processed with the help of the mathematical-statistical apparatus. Results and conclusions. It was established that the inclusion in the training process of exercises directed at the development of fast muscle fibres and the explosive strength of the extremities makes it possible to purposefully develop the speed-strength conditioning of the organism and to activate the adaptive capabilities of the central nervous system, which are key for the performance of game actions in handball. The improvement of these qualities contributes to the more effective performance of technical actions: throws, feints, sharp starts and changes of direction. The experimental programme with the use of strength exercises in the intensity zone of 70-90% of maximum strength strengthened the effectiveness of the game and competitive activity. The statistical analysis confirmed a reliable increase in the indicators of the long jump, upward jump and shuttle run (p<0.05), and the effect size according to Cohen (Cohen’s d) showed a medium and high practical significance.
