Objective of the study: to conduct a pedagogical experiment and evaluate the effect of adaptively-strengthening training on the prevention of sports injuries in hockey players at the stage of sports specialization.
Methodology and organization of the study, and conclusions. Experimental studies were conducted in 2024–2025 at the SOGBOUDO (Smolensk Regional State Budgetary Educational Institution of Additional Education) "Ice Hockey Sports School" (Smolensk). The study involved 30 young hockey players aged 11–15 years training at the stage of educational and training specialization. Based on the principle of relative homogeneity of baseline indicators, the athletes were divided into two groups: control (CG, n=15) and experimental (EG, n=15). All participants had medical clearance for training and had no acute injuries at the start of the experiment. To prevent sports injuries, adaptively-strengthening exercises of strength and coordination orientation were introduced into the training process of hockey players in the sports specialization groups, the effectiveness of which was assessed by the dynamics of lower extremity injuries over the annual cycle.
Results of the study and their discussion. The formative pedagogical experiment revealed that before its commencement, the hockey players in the CG and EG showed no statistically significant differences in the total number of sports injuries (p>0.05), thereby confirming the homogeneity of the studied groups. The study established that as a result of introducing adaptively-strengthening training into the practice of training hockey players in sports specialization groups, the total number of lower extremity injury cases among EG players during the playing season decreased from 36.7±1.6 to 12.5±0.6 (p<0.05), while in the control group, changes were practically negligible, with indicators decreasing from 35.1±1.5 to 32.8±1.2 (p>0.05). It was established that following the formative pedagogical experiment, the injury rate among EG hockey players decreased by 65.94%, and in the CG – by 6.55%. The obtained results indicate the high effectiveness of adaptively-strengthening training in the prevention of sports injuries in hockey players at the stage of sports specialization.
