The dynamics of the results of speed test exercises in hockey players aged 14-15 in the competitive and preparatory periods

Abstract
Objective of the study is to assess the dynamics of the results of selected speed test exercises performed by hockey players aged 14-15 at the end of the competitive period and the stages of the subsequent preparatory period. Methods and structure of the study. 19 hockey players of one team, of the age group 14-15, studying at one of the Moscow sports schools, took part in the scientific work. A quantitative-qualitative assessment of the training loads of the hockey players at the general preparatory stage and the special preparatory stage of the preparatory period was carried out (with the help of the method of pedagogical observation, the chronometry of training sessions and the analysis of the coach’s reports on the training work performed by the hockey players). Results and conclusions. The data obtained in the study made it possible to draw a number of conclusions: the dominance of the general-physical-orientation training work performed by the hockey players at the preparatory stage did not ensure an improvement in the growth of their special fitness; the daily performance by the hockey players at the initial stage of an ‘off-ice’ speed exercise ensured an improvement in the result only in the performance of this exercise; the multidirectionality of the changes in the average statistical results of the hockey players’ performance at the general preparatory stage of the selected speed exercises on and off the ice argues against the notions that these results depend on the development of the physical quality ‘speed’; the balance of the hockey players’ training work at the special preparatory stage did not lead them to achieve even the level of special fitness that the players demonstrated at the end of the preceding competitive season.
