Methods and structure of the study. The scientific work involved: cadets of educational organisations of the MIA of Russia (undergoing full-time training and having completed training for the position of “police officer”), students of physical culture universities. The subjects were asked to rank values and to answer a questionnaire consisting of 16 questions. Results and conclusions. It was revealed that in cadets of law enforcement agencies, patriotism has an institutionalised, state-oriented character, with the priorities being: the state, nationality, history, traditions. In physical culture university students, love for the Motherland has a more personal and local character, associated with the small homeland and family.
