Abstract

Objective of the study is to substantiate the necessity of commencing the training of preparatory actions with karate athletes aged 12–13 years in order to increase the effectiveness of combat actions in competitive bouts. Methods and structure of the study. To achieve the objective of the study, the content of the federal standard of sports training for the sport of “Karate” in the sports discipline “kumite” was examined, as well as the rules of the sport of “Karate”. For this purpose, the ratios of types of sports training in the structure of the training process and the number of competitive events at the stage of sports specialisation were analysed. Results and conclusions. The analysis of the ratio of types of sports training allows us to note a gradual decrease in the hours allocated to general physical preparation (GPP), the volume of which constitutes approximately 30%, while the hours allocated to special physical preparation (SPP) increase to 10%. It should be emphasised that the hours for tactical, theoretical and psychological preparation, which account for 19–26% of the total volume of sports training, are increasing. However, with such a distribution of hours, a certain ambiguity arises, since, if theoretical and psychological preparation implies knowledge of the history of the sport, competition rules, safety regulations and others, then tactical preparation, in addition to knowledge of tactical components of performing combat actions, implies training in the tactical skills of selecting and applying them. Definitely, the implementation of combat actions cannot be ensured without serious preparation of moment-distance and spatial-temporal situations of their application, which determines the significance of preparatory actions (PA) for effective competitive combat.
