Abstract

Objective of the study is to examine gender differences in the cross-functional relationships of students' visual perception of gymnastic exercises. Methods and structure of the study. The methodology for studying visual perception of gymnastic exercises includes two experimental series: the first series involved imitating the performance of the movements under study, while the second series involved repeated presentations of the object at a constant exposure. The study of attention and short-term memory properties was conducted using methods widely applied in experimental psychology. To investigate the relationships between the speed of visual perception (formation of a mental image) of a motor action and specific characteristics of attention and short-term memory, the method of correlation analysis was applied. The study involved 32 young men and 29 young women. Results and conclusions. Analysis of cross-functional correlations in the context of visual perception reveals distinct gender differences. In the perception of more complex stimulus objects, a broader spectrum of intercorrelations between indicators of visual perception speed and the mental functions under study was observed compared to the perception of simple objects. However, the nature of these relationships differs between young men and women.
