Objective of the study is to determine an optimal recovery regimen following exercises of a predominantly glycolytic nature.
Methods and structure of the study. Boxers and swimmers at the stage of sports specialisation took part in the study. As a test exercise, the boxers performed running on the spot, lifting their hips high, at a rate of 180 steps per minute for 3 minutes, whilst the swimmers swam a distance of 200 metres using their own technique at maximum speed. Recovery (rest) regimes following each exercise were varied: passive (recovery, practically in a sedentary state) and three active regimes.
Results and conclusions. The results showed varying levels of blood lactate concentration in boxers after performing the test exercise and covering the 200-metre distance, in swimmers at the 3-minute mark of recovery, as well as the intensity of its utilisation up to the 9-minute mark of recovery. At the same time, the rate of lactate clearance varied depending on the recovery mode used. The active recovery mode, based on continuing the test exercise at an intensity at the aerobic threshold, proved to be more effective in lactate clearance.
Keywords: recovery, lactate, anaerobic exercise, aerobic threshold, boxers, swimmers.
