Objective of the study is to identify key areas of research into students’ health from a biopsychosocial perspective.
Methods and structure of the study. The methodological basis of the study consisted of a theoretical analysis and systematisation of data from recent international publications (a total of 16 academic articles).
Results and conclusions. The research revealed a high prevalence of psychological problems among students. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the situation: up to 63.4% of students reported a deterioration in their mental health during distance learning. The causes of the deterioration in students’ health have been summarised: low motivation – 65.4%, insufficient family involvement – 22.7%, and the inefficiency of the educational process – 11.9%. It is possible to improve students’ health through physical activity mediated by psychosocial mechanisms: self-efficacy, enjoyment of classes, and social support. An analysis of international publications confirms the universality of health issues among students from different countries and the need to integrate digital technologies and pedagogical strategies for effective health promotion in higher education institutions based on a biopsychosocial approach.
Keywords: students, physical activity, mental health, biopsychosocial approach, international research, digital environment.
