Developing flexibility through a tailored fitness programme within the framework of practical physical education classes

Objective of the study is to develop and experimentally validate the effectiveness of an adapted fitness programme designed to improve flexibility among female university students.
Methods and structure of the study. The research involved a review of the literature, pedagogical observation, a survey of respondents to identify the most significant fitness technologies in terms of student interest, pedagogical testing aimed at determining the level of active and passive flexibility, a pedagogical experiment, and mathematical and statistical data analysis. The study involved third-year female students from the Faculty of International Relations and Political Studies, comprising the main and preparatory health groups (n=68).
Results and conclusions. An adapted fitness programme for developing flexibility was developed, which contributed to an increase in the range of motion in various joints of the body. Control exercises were developed to determine the active and passive flexibility of the female students. The application of the adapted fitness programme in the educational process will enable the balanced development of physical abilities, foster aesthetic qualities, provide health benefits and improve physique, whilst increasing sustained interest in practical physical education classes at the university.
