Introduction. In modern society, higher education institutions are a key platform for the introduction of innovative methods of education, preservation and strengthening of students' health.
The purpose of the study is to analyze the key directions and results of the XXII All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Physical Culture and Youth Health", as well as to determine its contribution to the development of theoretical and applied aspects of physical culture in universities.
Methodology and organization of research. A theoretical analysis of the reports presented at the plenary and breakout sessions, as well as the materials of the discussions held on February 20, 2026 at St. Petersburg State University of Economics, was carried out. The conference was attended by representatives of more than 20 Russian universities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Surgut, Krasnodar, Tver, Samara, Moscow and other cities.
The results of the study and their discussion. Considerable interest was attracted by the report of PhD, Associate Professor N.V. Peshkova, dedicated to the "Modular approach in preparing university students to participate in the VFSK "Ready for Labor and Defense". The author has proposed a structured training system that takes into account the individual characteristics of students and significantly increases the percentage of successful completion of TRP standards. A lively discussion was sparked by the report of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor L.I. Lubysheva on the topic "Theoretical foundations of the harmonization of time and space factors in the training of athletes." It addressed the development of the theoretical and methodological foundations of sports science, offering a new perspective on the training process that integrates the physical, mental and social into a single dynamic, vector system. A vivid example of the integration of digital trends into education was the report of Ph.D., Associate Professor M.A. Ermakova on the topic "Scientific and methodological support of digital technologies in educational institutions of higher education." Report by the director of the publishing house of St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise, lawyer L.N. Baryshnikova's presentation on "The Register of Sports Innovations: the boundaries of openness and legal protection" focused on the gap in Russian legislation in the field of accounting and protection of intellectual property in the sports industry.
The work of the breakout sessions allowed us to delve into the theoretical and methodological aspects of teaching, the development of student sports and professional development of specialists in the field of physical culture and sports. Students took an active part in the discussions, which indicates a high level of youth involvement in the scientific life of the university.
Conclusions. The conference outlined promising scientific directions for the development of physical education in universities: the introduction of digital technologies, the improvement of modular systems of preparation for the TRP, the development of health tourism and the strengthening of the methodological work of the teaching staff.
