Introduction. Modern universal combat is an applied type of martial arts that combines elements of hand-to-hand combat, obstacle courses and shooting. It requires an athlete to be universally prepared, develop strength, speed and coordination, as well as a high level of general and special physical fitness.
The purpose of the study is to identify the main directions for improving the special physical training of athletes in universal combat
Methodology and organization of research. The scientific work was carried out on the basis of an analysis of the official programs for the sport "Universal Combat", the training plans of sports schools, as well as pedagogical observations. The sample included 24 athletes aged 17 to 25 years, with qualifications from the first category to the MCMC.
The results of the study and their discussion. The training process for the sport includes several sections: general physical training (OFP), special physical training (SFP), technical and tactical, theoretical and psychological training. According to the training programs, highly qualified athletes (MS–MSMC) account for about 18% of the total workload, 26% of the total workload, and 43% of the technical and tactical workload. For athletes of the first category – KMS, the structure is distributed somewhat differently: SFP 21%, OFP 26%, TTP 41%. It is obvious that an increase in sports skills is associated with an increase in the share of special training aimed at developing speed and strength qualities. The results of the analysis show that while maintaining the total volume of loads, the share of special training should be increased by optimizing the AFP and including speed-strength exercises. The greatest effect is provided by repeated, interval and circular methods, as well as preparation for overcoming obstacle courses using running exercises, jumps and elements of crossfit. This contributes to the development of speed and strength abilities and increases the performance of athletes.
Conclusion. The development of speed and strength abilities remains a priority area for training athletes in universal combat. The use of circular, interval and static methods in combination with elements of athletics training is expected to enhance the special performance and effectiveness of competitive activities of fighters at the stage of athletic improvement.
