Objective of the study is to conduct a critical review of the approaches to digitalisation and digital transformation used in ice hockey, identify their limitations and problem areas, and propose working definitions of these concepts as they apply to the sports training of high-level ice hockey players.
Methods and structure of the study. The work is analytical in nature and is based on the reconstruction of management contours using materials from the practice of hockey teams in the Continental Hockey League/ Higher Hockey League/ Youth Hockey League (CHL/HHL/YHL) and league regulations. Comparative analysis of club artefacts (local regulations, micro- and mesocycle plans, management decision logs, reporting forms), pedagogical observation and expert assessment of internal processes were used. The methodological framework combines a knowledge-based approach (operationalisation of training content) and a project-technological approach (distribution of roles and responsibilities, consideration of calendar and logistical constraints, control and audit procedures).
Results and conclusions. A working definition of digital transformation and digitalisation in the field of sport and physical education is proposed, and a compact ‘from data to decisions’ architecture is presented, linking external conditions, the operational layer and the internal management circuit. It is assumed that efficiency will be achieved by reducing management uncertainty and labour costs, based on standardised procedures and sustainable feedback, individual elements of which are already being applied in CHL/HHL/YHL clubs.
