Objective of the study is to understand the phenomenon of woodball as an element of Taiwan's cultural identity and sporting innovations.
Methods and structure of the study. In the course of this study, methods of theoretical and systematic analysis and participant observation were used.
Results and conclusions. Based on an analysis of historical materials, regulatory documents of the International Woodball Federation, and academic publications, the study examines the preconditions for the emergence of this sport, the characteristics of its equipment, the organisation of the playing field, and the rules of competition. Particular attention is paid to how woodball contributes to the physical health of the population, the development of leisure activities, and the formation of intergenerational and intersocial ties. It is shown that the inclusion of woodball in school and community sports programmes strengthens its role in the physical education of young people, while the international spread of the sport reinforces the cultural identity of the Taiwan region and contributes to the development of sports diplomacy. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that the further spread of woodball requires comprehensive support, from improving equipment and infrastructure to expanding educational and international programmes. Woodball is seen as an important example of combining sports innovation and cultural heritage, with significant potential for further development.
