Objective of the study is to determine the characteristics of biomechanical performance when performing the ‘long cycle double kettlebell lift’ exercise by masters of sports in weightlifting and kettlebell lifting.
Methods and structure of the study. 20 high-class athletes participated in the experiment – masters of sports of the Russian Federation in weightlifting and kettlebell lifting, who performed the competitive exercise ‘long cycle double kettlebell jerk’ 10 times with strict adherence to the rules and a kettlebell weight of 48 kg. In order to obtain objective information about the rhythm and trajectory of the kettlebells' movement, the ‘3D Motion Analysis’ optoelectronic complex was used, which allows the kinematic and dynamic characteristics of the exercises performed to be evaluated.
The analysis of the biomechanical characteristics of the long cycle double kettlebell lift performed by masters of sports in weightlifting and kettlebell lifting revealed the following features:
Results and conclusions. Weightlifters spend significantly less time performing the first and second parts of the exercise compared to kettlebell lifters; The optimal time interval for performing the ‘long cycle two-kettlebell push’ exercise was determined to be 5.36-7.06 seconds for Russian weightlifting masters and 5.42-7.26 seconds for Russian kettlebell lifting masters. It was found that the shorter time taken by weightlifters to perform the exercise compared to kettlebell lifters is associated with significant differences in the sports – in the nature of the competitive exercises and the organisation of the training process. Since a weightlifter is capable of performing a single repetition with greater strength and speed of movement, prolonged performance of kettlebell lifts in a long cycle with such characteristics is not possible for them in comparison with a kettlebell lifter.
