Improving the effectiveness of geodetic practice for construction students using orienteering techniques

Objective of the study is to substantiate and experimentally verify the effectiveness of using orienteering tools to improve the quality of geodetic competencies of future builders in practice.
Methods and structure of the study. 60 first-year students majoring in construction participated in the experiment. The influence of orienteering tools on the formation of professional and applied geodetic skills in future builders in field practice conditions was analysed.
Results and conclusions. It was found that the use of an orienteering programme in classes contributes to improving the accuracy of geodetic tasks in practice: the number of errors in setting out axes is reduced by 42%, the levelling error is reduced by 37%, and the speed of task completion has increased by an average of 28%. This increases the effectiveness of field practice and student performance by 19.1 points.
