Objective of the study is to assess the impact of regular basketball training on the physical abilities of adolescent students.
Methods and structure of the study. 28 adolescent students from Russian universities were examined and divided into two comparable groups. The active group (15 people) attended basketball training twice a week in addition to their physical education classes. The control group (13 people) avoided additional physical activity. Physical performance was assessed at the beginning of the study and after 6 months using standard functional tests.
Results and conclusions. Regular basketball training contributed to a significant improvement in strength, speed, coordination, and endurance. No significant changes were found in the control group. Regular basketball training contributes to the physical development of adolescent students.
