Objective of the study is to conduct a quantitative and qualitative analysis of contemporary issues in sports psychology publications in the journal Teoriya i praktika fizicheskoy kultury for 2020-2024.
Methods and structure of the study. To analyse 166 articles on sports psychology published between 2020 and 2024, content analysis (quantitative method) and thematic analysis (qualitative method) were used, taking into account the year of publication, the number of authors and their academic characteristics in the context of current trends in this field of scientific knowledge.
Results and conclusions. The majority of articles were published in the section ‘Sports Psychology’ (n=141; 84.9%), as well as in other sections: ‘From Editor's Papercase’ (n=13; 7.8%), ‘In Search of a New Breakthrough’ (n=5; 3%), etc. Of the 423 authors, 85.8% (n=363) presented the results of their research once. In 40.96% of cases, these were collective publications (4 people). Among the authors of articles on sports psychology, specialists with pedagogical academic status statistically significantly predominate over those with psychological status (p<0.01 according to Fisher's F-test). The main areas of publications devoted to psychological issues have been identified: 1) research results within the framework of a resource and environmental approach, including the problem of sports-related qualities, psychological support for subjects of sports and physical culture and health activities, psychological well-being in sports; 2) results of comprehensive studies in which psychological aspects are reflected in the context of pedagogical, medical-biological and other issues.
