Introduction. Intensification of muscular activity can have a positive effect on various somatic characteristics of a person [2]. This result is achieved by increasing anabolism in the muscular system and internal organs of the trainees [1]. Playing sports remain popular among young people, continuing to attract a large number of students.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the results of the influence of regular volleyball training on the physical capabilities of young men.
Research methodology and organization. The study involved 26 physically untrained, healthy young men aged 18–20. Of these, 12 began to regularly practice volleyball and formed a sports group. The control group consisted of 14 peers who did not wish to engage in sports and maintained their usual inactive lifestyle. The study lasted for 6 months. Standard functional tests were used with statistical processing of the results (Student's t-test).
The results of the study and their discussion. The observed subjects showed a slight increase in strength, speed, and coordination. They also exhibited a slight decrease in movement accuracy. By the end of the study, the control group had maintained the same levels of physical performance as at the beginning of the study, but with increased fatigue and decreased movement accuracy. In contrast, the sports group demonstrated an increase in their physical capabilities. Their speed-strength capabilities increased by 31.6%, their strength increased by 29.2%, their coordination improved by 25.2%, and their endurance increased by 30.1%. At the end of the study, the sports group showed a decrease in fatigue when maintaining the accuracy of their movements during long-term training.
Conclusions. Volleyball training can significantly stimulate the youthful body. Against this background, students develop their skeletal muscles, increasing their strength and speed-strength capabilities. In addition, students improve their coordination and endurance.
