Objective of the study to evaluate the dynamics of strength capabilities in students regularly engaged in game sports.
Methods and structure of the study. The performance of 35 male undergraduate students who began attending soccer training 2 times per week after entering university was taken into account. One group of 12 individuals was limited to physical activity in this format. The other group (12 individuals), in addition to soccer training, trained once a week in the volleyball section, and 11 individuals trained once a week in the basketball section. The control group included 15 young men who were not physically loaded during the observation. The observation lasted for two years. Initially and at the end of the observation the hand muscle strength was determined. The obtained data were processed by Student's t-criterion.
Results and conclusions. The highest strength capabilities were observed in students who trained in soccer and basketball sections. The strength of both arms in those who trained in the soccer and volleyball sections was slightly lower. The indicators in those who practiced only soccer were even lower. In the control group by the end of observation the strength of both hands was the lowest. To improve the results of full-time university education and to strengthen the physical capabilities of students, it is necessary to involve them in playing sports. It is preferable to practice two game sports at once. According to the obtained data, the combination of soccer and basketball is very effective in this regard.
