Objective of the study is to theoretically substantiate the systemic principles of organizing a sports team as a complex open system and to identify structural components, functional connections and system-forming factors that ensure the effectiveness of team interaction.
Methods and structure of the study. The methodological basis was a systems approach. The methods of structural and functional analysis, content analysis of scientific literature and logical modeling were used. The study was theoretical in nature and consisted of analyzing sources and building a conceptual model of a sports team as an open system.
Results and conclusions. The systems analysis showed that a sports team is a complex socio-pedagogical system that has integrity, structure, hierarchy, openness and emergence. Three structural components are identified: athletes, coaching staff and management, between which horizontal, vertical and diagonal functional connections are formed. The main principles of the systemic organization of the team, such as integrity, hierarchy and emergence, are revealed. A model of system analysis of the effectiveness of team interaction has been developed, including structural, functional, effective and adaptation blocks. Theoretical provisions create the basis for improving team building technologies and managing sports teams.

Keywords: sports team, system approach, structural and functional analysis, collective subject, team interaction.
