Objective of the study is to identify the relationship between the motor activity of female students with their self-assessment of mental states and dominant goals in physical education and sports classes.
Methods and structure of the study. 150 girls of the 1st-3rd years of Vyatka State University in Kirov and Moscow State University of Sport and Tourism in the humanities took part in the scientific work. In order to study the attitude of student youth to physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, a survey was conducted [9]. The questionnaire allowed us to identify female students who regularly engage in physical education and believe that an active lifestyle is the basis of their health. The number of respondents in this group was 22% (36 people). The second group of girls does not show interest in physical education and physical activity. It turned out to be more numerous and amounted to 78% (124 people).
In both groups, the students used G. Eysenck's method "Diagnostics of self-assessment of mental states", which allowed us to determine the levels of such personality states as anxiety, frustration, aggressiveness and rigidity, and A.V. Shaboltas's method "Motives for playing sports" was also used to identify dominant goals. Mathematical and statistical processing of the results was carried out using Student's t-test at a significance level of 0.001. The research results were processed using the Excel program.
Results and conclusions. Mathematical processing of the research results using the method of G. Eysenck "Diagnostics of self-assessment of mental states", such as anxiety, frustration, aggressiveness and rigidity, showed reliable differences in all indicators (p <0.001). According to the method of A.V. Shaboltas "Motives for playing sports", statistically significant differences were revealed for 9 motives (p <0.001), the motive of "achieving success" between the groups was unreliable (p> 0.001). Based on the obtained results, it can be argued that the girls of the 1st group have an active life position, they like playing sports to compensate for the lack of physical activity at the university. In the 2nd group, the expression of dominant motives is very weak, accordingly, the physical activity of this category of female students is very low, which creates difficulties in their self-realization when studying at the university.

Keywords: attitude of student youth to physical education, physical activity, female students, questionnaire, self-esteem.
