Objective of the study is to evaluate the degree of reliability and expediency of using methods for determining the height of athletes' jumps based on theoretical analysis and generalization of practical experience.
Methods and structure of the study. A theoretical review of information resources was performed, pedagogical testing was conducted, including an assessment of the jump height of 40 athletes involved in various sports games. Dynamometric studies of jumps were also carried out using a computer system for data processing and supporting high-speed video recording.
Results and conclusions. The variety of methods for measuring jump height indicates that each of them has its own right to exist, as it meets the needs of different sports. However, without standardization of such methods, it may be incorrect to conduct a comparative analysis of test results in different sports disciplines. The measurement error using different techniques can reach 30-40%. Due to the lack of generally accepted standards, in sports practice, jumping is often assessed as a specific skill for each discipline, instead of fixing exactly the height of the jump. Dynamometric is the most accurate and reliable method of determining the height of a jump, as it eliminates the influence of specific skills inherent in various sports specializations. In addition, the presence of only age, gender, and qualification standards does not provide full control, since there is significant variation in this indicator among athletes within each group. Therefore, when assessing jumping ability, it is advisable to take into account the height characteristics of athletes and their playing role, as is practiced in some types of sports games.

Keywords: jump height, standard measurement method, theoretical analysis, generalization of experience.
