Public administration of physical activity and sports in the USA at the regional level: California's experience

Objective of the study is to analyze the public administration system in the field of physical activity and sports at the regional level of the United States using the example of the state of California.
Methods and structure of the study. As part of the scientific work, an institutional approach was applied to the study of the organizational structure of public authorities implementing policies in the field of physical activity and sports in the state of California using the method of structural analysis and generalization.
Results and conclusions. The article is devoted to the analysis of the system of state management of physical activity and sports in the USA, with a focus on the regional level. Using the example of California, the paper examines the activities of government agencies that coordinate the development of this area, as well as key programs aimed at attracting various groups of the population to sports. Special attention is paid to the role of public organizations. In conclusion, it is concluded that, despite the broad powers, the regional management system in California largely reflects the federal management system in the field of physical activity and sports in the United States.
