Objective of the study is to identify the specific features of sports and patriotic education in the process of preparing young people for military duty.
Methods and structure of the study. In the period from 2023 to 2024, a scientific study was carried out, the object of which was young people of military age (hereinafter referred to as respondents) living in the city of Perm and the Perm Region. All participants, without exception, were assessed for their physical fitness and the degree of development of basic physical characteristics. At the same time, the accumulated experience of participating in competitions and events of military-applied sports of patriotic orientation held in Perm and the Perm region was analyzed.
Results and conclusions. Modern research reveals a deterioration in health and physical fitness in young men of pre-conscription age, which is due to the limited amount of physical exercise in physical education classes in educational institutions. There is a negative trend in the field of military-patriotic education of young people. Among the reasons hindering the high-quality preparation of young men for military service, the weakening of patriotism and the predominance of consumer views stand out. Sports and patriotic education is an important component of the preparation of pre-conscription youth for military service. The practice of sports and patriotic education of youth and adolescents, successfully implemented in Perm and the Perm Region, is an innovative and relevant approach that meets modern challenges.
