The aim of the study is to justify the feasibility of using training equipment used in beach volleyball to expand the variety of technical techniques performed by skilled athletes in classic volleyball.
Methodology and organisation of the study. The experiment was conducted during the 2024/2025 season by volleyball teams representing the youth league. As part of a sequential formative experiment during the organisation of the preparatory period of the annual cycle (July-October 2024), 24 players specialising in classic volleyball were asked to use technical exercises that are widely used in beach volleyball. These exercises consisted of training tasks performed in pairs on the sand to improve serves, passes, attacking strikes, ball reception and blocking. The effectiveness of using technical exercises used by beach volleyball players was assessed based on the dynamics of control and pedagogical testing of the main technical techniques of the game.
Research results and discussion. The research showed that the volleyball players who took part in the tests before the experiment started did exactly 5.7±0.2 serves out of 10 attempts, as instructed by the coach. It was found that youth team volleyball players showed relatively low performance in technical skills such as accurate passing and receiving the ball in the basketball hoop – 5.6±0.2 and 3.8±0.1 times, respectively. It was found that out of 10 attempts, youth team volleyball players accurately performed an attacking strike according to the coach's instructions in specific areas of the court only 4.1±0.2 times. In the control exercise of blocking after a partner's throw before the start of the experiment, out of 10 attempts, players successfully performed only 4.7±0.2 times.
The use of training tasks on playing technique integrated from beach volleyball during the preparatory period of the annual cycle for players of youth teams in classic volleyball during the course of a sequential formative experiment significantly increased the number of accurately performed technical techniques out of 10 attempts. Thus, the accuracy of serves reached 8.7±0.3 times, passes and receptions 9.2±0.5 and 8.1±0.4 times, attacking strikes and blocks 8.4±0.3 and 9.0±0.5 times, respectively (p<0.05).
Conclusion. The use of training methods characteristic of beach volleyball in the preparatory period of the annual cycle of skilled players specialising in classic volleyball significantly increases the variability and versatility of motor actions, which has a positive effect on improving the technical preparedness of athletes.
