The aim of the study is to develop and experimentally substantiate the structure and content of information support for effective competitive activity of the libero in defence.
Methodology and organisation of the study. A formative pedagogical experiment was conducted with libero players participating in the Moscow Student Volleyball Games 2023-2024. The players' qualifications ranged from I category to KMS. Sixteen athletes took part in the experiment, who were divided into a control group (CG) and an experimental group (EG) of 8 people each. The CG trained based on a sports training programme for volleyball, while the EG training process included a training programme based on identifying visual and informational images in the actions of the opposing team's attackers.
Research results and discussion. During the study, preliminary and control tests were conducted. Between tests, the EG implemented a training programme aimed at recognising and responding to certain visual-informational images, improving technical and tactical actions in defence. The results of the experiment showed that the effectiveness of ball reception in defense by the EG libero players increased in the following order: by 10% more than in the CG for attacks from the 2nd zone; by 5.4% more for attacks from the 3rd zone; by 8% more for attacks from the 4th zone; and by 9.2% more for attacks from the 6th zone. The results obtained prove that when the developed structure and content of information support for libero players is applied in the training process, their technical and tactical effectiveness can be significantly increased.
Conclusions. The study proved the effectiveness of the developed structure and content of information support for effective competitive activity of liberos in defence, which allows us to recommend it as an effective approach in the training of athletes of this position at all stages of development.
