Formation of professional and ethical competence of future specialists in physical education and sports

Objective of the study was to experimentally substantiate the pedagogical conditions for the formation of professional and ethical competence among students of a physical education university.
Methods and structure of the study. The method of theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific literature, pedagogical observations, student questionnaires, expert assessment method, pedagogical experiment; statistical method (Mann-Whitney U-criterion) were applied. The testing of the working hypothesis of the study was carried out in experimental work within the framework of studying the discipline «Professional Ethics» by students.
Results and conclusions. The results of the ascertaining study, in which 234 first-year students of the University of Physical Education participated, show that most of them understand the importance of ethical standards in human life and activity, but almost half of those surveyed would not be guided by them in the conditions of moral choice. Pedagogical conditions for the formation of professional and ethical competence in future specialists in physical education and sports have been identified and experimentally substantiated.
