Managing the emotional state of student swimmers as a factor in improving the training process

Objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of means of controlling the emotional state during the training process on increasing the level of self-development of the personality of student swimmers.
Methods and structure of the study. The psychological and pedagogical experiment was carried out over one semester with two groups of students of 25 people each, specializing in swimming - control and experimental. Training in the control group was carried out according to a traditional sports training program. The experimental group studied according to a modernized program, which included means of increasing the emotional background of classes to normalize students' resistance to stress.
Results and conclusions. The results of the experiment showed that the growth of parameters of physical qualities, such as strength, speed, coordination, during the experiment was more pronounced in the athletes of the experimental group compared to the control group. The results of the correlation analysis between the motivating attitudes of student-athletes of the experimental group towards training showed a close relationship between interest in sports activities, determination, and readiness/ability for self-development. In the competitions at the beginning and end of the experiment, the swimmers from the EG were able to significantly improve their results. Thus, the use of psychoregulatory innovative techniques in the swimming training process made it possible to improve the emotional state of student-athletes, increase the emotional background of classes, as well as the level of self-development activity, their readiness and ability for self-development.
