The purpose of the study is to identify priority areas for the training of highly qualified Chinese football players for planning and organizing a multi–year training process.
Methodology and organization of the study. A sociological survey was conducted in the form of a questionnaire, which was attended by highly qualified athletes and coaches of the Chinese women's national football team and professional clubs participating in the women's Super League games. The results of the survey made it possible to identify key areas for improving the long-term training process of highly qualified Chinese football players.
The results of the study and their discussion. A survey of coaches and highly qualified athletes revealed that the majority of respondents – 30.6 and 25.8%, respectively – consider an effective system of long-term training and a high level of athletic fitness to be the determining factors ensuring the achievement of high athletic performance in women's football.
Most of the respondents surveyed – 32.5 and 29.8%, respectively – consider the improvement of technical and tactical skills and improvement of physical and functional fitness to be the main focus of the long-term training process of highly qualified football players.
Studies have shown that a small part of coaches and athletes consider the control and management of the athlete's condition, as well as the development of mental qualities and abilities, to be the key directions of the long–term training process of highly qualified players in the women's direction - 16.3 and 11.5%, respectively. It was found that only 6.8 and 3.1% of respondents, respectively, consider the acquisition of competitive experience and systematic selection to be the main directions for building a long-term training process of highly qualified football players.
Conclusions. The results obtained allow us to state that in order to achieve high sporting results in women's professional football in China, a sufficiently large training and competitive practice is required, while a qualified and competent specialist with extensive experience should lead the training process.
