Objective of the study was to conduct a comparative analysis of the functional state of the regulatory systems of the body of schoolchildren aged 7-10, who go in for physical culture in the main and preparatory medical groups.
Methods and structure of the study. A survey of 1267 schoolchildren aged 7-10 years in five constituent entities of the Russian Federation was carried out. The assessment of the state of regulatory systems was carried out using the study of heart rate variability by the method of spectral analysis and the construction of classification matrices according to the levels of adaptation.
Results and conclusions. Differences in the functional state of the regulatory systems of the body of schoolchildren of the main and preparatory medical groups have been established. It has been shown that schoolchildren of the preparatory group are distinguished by a reduced activity of regulatory systems and a greater tension in the mechanisms of regulation. The revealed features of the functional state of the regulatory systems of the body of schoolchildren of the main and preparatory medical groups are necessary for the selection of optimal physical exercises to increase the effectiveness of physical education. Taking into account the functional state of the body's regulatory systems as an indicator of the functional state of a schoolchild is a necessary condition for the effective management of the physical education of schoolchildren with different levels of health.

Keywords: heart rate variability, basic and preparatory medical groups, functional state of regulatory systems, levels of adaptation.
