Introduction. The achievements of the Olympic fencers of the People's Republic of China demonstrate to the whole world the high rates of development of fencing in China [1].
The purpose of the study is to analyze the results of Chinese fencers at the Olympic Games, the advantages and disadvantages of the sports training system.
Methodology and organization of the study. The analysis of the performances of Chinese fencers (93 athletes) who took part in the Olympic Games for the period from 1984 to 2020 was carried out.
The results of the study and their discussion. The analysis shows that the age of athletes, when they first participated in the Olympic Games, gradually became younger, the number of participants constantly increased, the range of fencing styles gradually became more diverse. There were quite a few fencers at the last two Olympiads who participated in more than two Olympic Games, and this rich experience laid a good foundation for achieving high results [2].
Statistics of the success of Chinese fencers at the Olympic Games: 5 gold medals, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals. Not only some Asian countries, but also some European countries, in which fencing has deeper roots, still cannot achieve such sports indicators.
Chinese fencers at the Olympic Games won both gold medals and awards of other dignity. Athletes who achieved medals made up 20% of the total number of Olympians. Such a result testifies to the athletic potential of the team and allows us to hope for victories in the foreseeable future.
In the ongoing improvement of China's economic and social system, state power, as is well known, absolutely dominates the development of various sports. At the same time, some instability of the results at the Olympic Games indicates the need to study the best practices of the system of training fencers in the leading countries of the world, as well as conducting relevant scientific research for fencing. In addition, with 750 fencing clubs in various regions, the mass of athletes engaged in fencing for a country with a population of more than a billion people leaves much to be desired.
Conclusions. Analyzing the results of the performances of Chinese fencers at such prestigious world tournaments as the Olympic Games, it is possible to form an objective idea of the ways of further development of fencing in China [4].
To further improve the training of fencers in The PRC should pay serious attention to the quality of the training process of young athletes and the nearest reserve of the national team of the country. It is necessary to raise the level of professional and pedagogical competencies of graduates of universities of physical culture.
