Introduction. The problem of the correlation of the spiritual and the bodily in man, known since ancient times, has not lost its relevance until now. Basically, the problem has a philosophical aspect, but the vector of its rethinking was nevertheless directed to the field of modern pedagogy, which can be defined as the ratio of professional, moral and physical culture of students of various specialties, including the profession of a future doctor. Physical culture is capable of educating future doctors not only professionally significant physical qualities of a person, but also professionally moral, which makes it a universal socio-pedagogical phenomenon of modern student life [1].
The purpose of the study is to substantiate the applied orientation of the theory and methodology of teaching physical culture in modern medical universities with an emphasis on the formation of professional and moral qualities of the future doctor.
Methodology and organization of the study. Scientific developments were carried out in the period from 2013 to 2022 . In the process of a comprehensive analysis, special literature was studied, pedagogical experience was discussed and summarized at meetings of the educational and methodological commission on physical culture and Sports under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
The results of the study and their discussion. The humanistic orientation of the professional training of a doctor refocuses the theory and methodology of teaching physical culture on the formation of professional and moral qualities of a future specialist. The rationale for this is that physical culture has a powerful spiritual and moral potential, which makes it leading in the training of a future doctor, but modern approaches do not always reflect the main principles of personal education and are often only egocentric in nature. The process of physical education should be of a professionally applied nature, otherwise the idea of forming a harmonious personality will lose its meaning.
Professional and moral culture, as a component of clinical thinking and practical skills of a future doctor (especially in surgical specialties), cannot be learned independently, for this the pedagogical principle of continuity is necessary. Therefore, replacing contact work with independent work can lead to poor-quality training of the future doctor associated with his professional, moral, practical and physical culture.
Conclusion. The concepts of professional and moral culture and physical culture are interrelated. The level of professional and moral culture of the future doctor largely depends on the university education system. At the socio-humanitarian, natural science, theoretical profile, clinical departments and departments of physical culture and sports in medical universities of Russia, a holistic pedagogical approach to the formation of the personality of the future doctor is needed. Physical education in medical universities in Russia should be applied, as it is associated with occupational diseases, professional activity and professional ethics of the future doctor.
