Features of the development and distribution of golf in the countries of the world

Introduction. Golf is popular in many countries of the world. This sport has spread among the population of other countries thanks to trade and political ties between states. Subsequently, the game from the usual pastime reached such a level of popularity that it was included in the program of the Olympic Games. At the moment, golf is a popular and actively developing sport in many countries of the world, such as: Great Britain, Spain, Turkey, USA, Portugal, Japan, China, South Korea, South Africa, etc.
The purpose of the study is to identify the features and trends of golf development in the countries of the world at the present stage on the basis of theoretical analysis.
Methodology and organization of the study. The theoretical analysis was carried out in the period from 2018 to 2022. The main research methods: systematization, comparison, comparison of the data obtained. The use of the comparative analysis method allowed us to determine the features of the state and prospects of golf development in the countries of the world from the XV to the XXI centuries.
The results of the study and their discussion. Theoretical analysis and generalization of data on the development of golf allowed us to identify the main features and trends of development at the present stage. These include: increasing interest in golf; development and popularization of golf in countries and regions of the world; compliance with the requirements of the World anti-doping Code; optimized system of golf competitions; optimal system of selection and rating of golfers; development of amateur and youth golf; increasing the availability of competitions; reducing the high cost of golf infrastructure; the development of mass participation in golf; the popularity of golf as part of physical culture; women's sports movement; the development of the sports entertainment industry in the countries of the world, including the search for new forms.
The results of the comparative analysis revealed the ratio of the number of national golf federations in the regions of the world. At the moment there are 146 of them. Based on the data obtained, it was revealed that 32.2% of federations are located in Europe, 21.25% – in Asia, South America and North America, 20.5% in Africa, 4.8% in Australia and Oceania.
Conclusion. The main features of the development of golf at the present stage are positive and dynamic, including in the field of mass sports. An analysis of the current geography of the spread of golf allows us to determine that this sport has reached the greatest distribution in Europe, Asia and the countries of North and South America.
