Introduction. The development of intellectual abilities is an essential condition for improving the effectiveness of technical and tactical training and the effectiveness of competitive activities [1, 2].
The purpose of the study is to develop and justify the effectiveness of the methodology for the development of intellectual abilities of qualified boxers.
Methodology and organization of the study. The methodology for the development of intellectual abilities includes two blocks of educational tasks in its content: the 1st block ‑ intellectual tasks of varying degrees of complexity aimed at the development of all aspects of intelligence, memory and thinking; the 2nd block – technical and tactical tasks aimed at the development of analytical abilities and skills of objective assessment of their own actions and the actions of the enemy with taking into account the variable requirements of competitive activity. To assess the level of development of intellectual abilities of boxers, psychodiagnostics of the following indicators were carried out: intellectual development (the Raven method); cognitive activity (the Astur method); complex intelligence index according to verbal, mathematical and spatial criteria (the Amthauer test); intelligence coefficient (the Eysenck method): analytical abilities (solving intellectual problems).
The results of the study and their discussion. At the beginning of the experiment, the subjects of the control and experimental groups showed no significant differences in the indicators of intellectual abilities development. During the experiment, positive changes occurred in both groups of subjects, but the increase in indicators in the experimental group exceeds the control group in terms of: intellectual development – by 10.1%, cognitive activity – by 13.5%, complex intelligence index – by 11.6%, intelligence development – by 12.9%, development of analytical abilities – by 11%..
Conclusion. Thus, the results of the study indicate the effectiveness of the methodology for developing the intellectual abilities of qualified boxers.
