Objective of the study was to identify the features of the coping skills of figure skaters with different levels of achievement motivation, extraversion and neuroticism.
Methods and structure of the study. Three psychodiagnostic methods were used in the work: the test of coping skills of an athlete R. Smith with co-authors ACSI-28 in adaptation Bochaver K.A., Dovzhik L.M., Kukshina A.A.; EPI test by G. Eysenck adapted by Shmelev A.G. and Pokhilko V.A.; A. Mekhrabian's questionnaire for measuring achievement motivation modified by M.Sh. Magomed-Eminova. 45 athletes involved in figure skating were examined: 20 women and 25 men.
Results and conclusions. According to the results of psychological diagnostics, the most developed and frequently used coping skills for dealing with stress in athletes are “self-confidence and orientation of motivation for success”, “learning ability” and “concentration”. The least developed coping skill among athletes is “the ability to perform at the highest level under stress”. The characteristics "level of achievement motivation" and "extraversion" have a positive effect on the level of coping skills of athletes. Accordingly, they have a greater supply of personal resources to cope with stress.
