Objective of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the training process of highly qualified biathletes in the preparatory period based on the results of physiological testing.
Methods and structure of the study. Highly qualified biathletes in the amount of 19 people took part in the process. Testing was carried out at the beginning (July) and the end (October) of the general preparatory stage of the preparatory period. During testing, the athletes performed a step-increasing load on a treadmill and a Concept-2 manual ergometer. To assess the effectiveness of the training process in highly qualified athletes, it is advisable to use the indicators of variational pulsometry, recorded not only at rest, but also during the period of urgent recovery, since the improvement of regulatory mechanisms at the time of the “work-rest” transition is a criterion for adapting the body to physical activity.
Results and conclusions. The optimal variant of adaptive rearrangements of regulatory mechanisms is a decrease in the activity of the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous system and an increase in the activity of the parasympathetic division after performing a stepwise increasing load by the end of the preparatory period. The absence of changes on the part of regulatory mechanisms in the preparatory period can be considered as a sign of a decrease in the body's adaptive reserves and, accordingly, the functional state.
